"After I became disabled, there where times I felt like giving up. It seemed that no one could understand my every day pain. But then God sent me Accent On Independence. Now I have a family of love. They understand my pain, my disability, and help me daily. Thank you God. Thank you AOI."
- Jesse James Stull - an AOI client
Accent On Independence is dedicated to treating both our clients and employees with honesty, empathy, integrity and respect. AOI operates under the basic belief that:
Clients have the right to live independently in their homes. To receive quality care in the home and avoid unnecessary institutionalization.
Clients with the ability to direct their care are encouraged to do so. Participation in developing their Plan of Care and managing all aspects of their disability is expected of clients with the ability to do so.
If the safety of a client is compromised or their situation is medically unsafe, AOI will seek intervention. Additional resources or facilitators may be utilized.
Employees and clients alike have the right to be treated with respect. AOI believes that each individual has innate worth, regardless of race, sex, sexual preference, religion, creed, color, national origin, age or disability.
AOI believes that the best quality of care comes from and to employees and clients who are allowed to exercise choices in the work they do and with whom.
AOI advocates for clients and encourages them to advocate for themselves.
